How it works:
Topical corticosteroids act as anti-inflammatory agents via multiple mechanisms to inhibit late phase allergic reactions. This includes decreasing the density of mast cells, reducing chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils, lowering cytokine production by lymphocytes, monocytes, mast cells, and eosinophils, and inhibiting the metabolism of arachidonic acid.

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): local skin burning or pain, itchy skin

Very Rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people): prolonged use or use under an airtight dressing may cause increased weight, rounding of the face (moon face), obesity, skin thinning (which may cause stretch marks and make skin damage easier), and skin wrinkling.
Drug Interactions: Ritonavir, Itraconazole
Indication:
Helps reduce redness and itchiness of skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.
When not to Use:

Allergy to betamethasone valerate or any other ingredients

Precautions:
Take care when applying near eyelids to avoid contact with eyes, as this may cause glaucoma.
Warnings:

Prolonged application on the face may cause skin thinning.

Long-term use may cause cataracts (clouding of the eye lens).

Using large amounts or applying to large body areas for extended periods can lead to systemic absorption and symptoms of hypercortisolism, such as stretch marks, visible blood vessels under the skin, increased hair growth, skin colour changes, skin thinning, weight gain, or moon face.
